Take the slow road to haute cuisine

Take time to savour the flavours of Slow Food Week, which runs until Sunday 9 June, and celebrates the appeal of tasty morsels which may take a little while to prepare, but are well worth the wait.

Sea Lavender honey, Medlar, Goosnargh cake and Cornish Saffron cake are among the forgotten British foods being saved from obscurity in a campaign organised by Slow Food UK.

The campaign supports small-scale producers of speciality foods which are an important part of Britain's culinary heritage.

Restaurants with Slow Food on the menu this week include branches of Brasserie Blanc, which will be serving up Herdwick Mutton and Jersey Royal potatoes.

An interactive cookery class on Fishing and Foraging will be held at the Cookery School, Little Portland Street, on Wednesday 5 June.

Or you could choose to take it at your own pace by preparing a delicious home-cooked meal using locally-sourced ingredients and seasonal products.

Further details can be found online at the Slow Food UK website.
