East Sheen's "town centre" consists of a line of shops that run along the Upper Richmond Road and spill up into Sheen Lane. There are quite a few well-known names such as WHSmith, Robert Dyas, Cargo, Boots and Whistles, but there are also a surprising number of little independent shops, that sell an array of interesting one-of-a-kind products. Now, I'm as guilty as the rest when it comes to seeking out bargains on the internet, however there's something deeply satisfying about browsing in an actual shop - seeing the product, smelling it, feeling it in your hands - that you can't get online. With more and more shops closing down at the hands of the economy, I think it's time we support our high street, even if it does mean spending a little more. Christmas is creeping up on us already (yes I did mention the C-word) and now's the perfect time to start thinking about gifts. So, in no particular order, here's a list of my top 10 independent shops in East Sheen.
OK, so this one's a chain, but a relatively small chain so I thought it deserved a place in my top 10. This delightful shop sells clothing, jewellery, accessories, furniture, cards, gifts and lots more.
