The beautiful
Lainston House in Winchester operates as a hotel, venue and restaurant, but their
Season Cooking School offers something a little different. With courses on offer throughout the year, the options include essential cooking skills, working with particular cuts of meat, or mastering specific dishes or culinary styles. In 2018, you'll have three opportunities to sign up for Season Cooking school's
Sharpen Your Skills: Using Fish half-day class, lead by Sylvain Gachot.
The classes will be held on 21 January, 13 May and 16 September, from 9:30 till 1:30. The slightly shorter half day classes allow you to learn some essential skills, without the cost or time of a full day class.
The Sharpen Your Skills classes deal specifically with knife skills. You'll learn more about slicing, dicing and chopping, but with this course, you'll be learning specifically with fish. The class will cover techniques specifically used when working with fish or when cooking fish-based dishes.
These classes are lead by Chef Sylvain Gachot. Gachot is the Season Cooking School manager and he has been working at Lainston house for eight years. Gachot takes many of the classes at the cooking school, with classes focussed on specific techniques, general cooking skills, and even classes for kids. The class is £75 per person, and bookings can be made online. Lainston House is located in Winchester, just a bit over 15 miles outside of Southampton. If you're not interested in the morning drive, you can always look at
Lainston House's accommodation options , for a beautiful relaxing stay alongside your cooking class.
