For five days the Bargehouse Gallery in South Bank's Oxo Tower will transform into a cultural hub featuring the work of award winning artists who either live in or have been inspired by Mexico.
Presented by the contemporary pop-up gallery, Platform C, and its Mexican sister gallery, Distrito 14, the immersive art show runs between 8th - 12th October. You will be able to explore art, fashion, music, and cuisine which has been Shaped in Mexico.
The artists work in a variety of 2D and 3D mediums, including moving images, audio, and paper craft. My favourite is Adair Vigil, who turns notebooks into intricate plant sculptures.
On the fashion scene, Maria Vogel, was a finalist in Vogue Italia's 'Fashion Talents' competition, while Mani Maalai creates 'earth inspired' jewellery. Electronic sounds are highlighted in the music department, as the show looks at DJs Leo Leal and Ezekiel. If you get hungry, be sure to visit Mestizo, a restaurant-bar fusing Mexican and Spanish cuisine.
The evening opening event on the 8th October is by invitation only, which can be requested through registration. Otherwise entry is free from the 9th October, and will include fashion shows, tours, talks, and MexKids exhibition especially for families.
