Scottish indie band
Shambolics head towards the conclusion of their 2023 UK tour with a gig at
Dead Wax in Birmingham on Sunday, May 21.
Hailing from Fife, but having recently relocated to Glasgow, Shambolics have made a name for themselves on the Scottish scene thanks to infamous live performances and an impressive knack for a hook-laden single. Now becoming known further afield, the band - Lewis McDonald, Darren Forbes, Ben Sharp, Jake Bain and Scotty Paws - are using their current tour to promote their new EP,
U Serious Boi?!, which includes latest single,
Never Gonna Change.
Vocalist/guitarist Darren says: “
Never Gonna Change is one of the first tunes me and Lewis wrote together. The song is about someone who is always complaining about their small town surroundings, so pushes to change this. They move to the city to start a new life but it turns out he’s still the exact same guy and it’s his mentality that’s holding him back. We’ve met a few of them along the way.”
The EP also includes the singles
What’s Going On In Your Head,
Like A Breeze,
Living In Shadows and
Take It Or Leave It.
The band have honed their live performance with festival slots, including TRNSMT, Stockton Calling and Sound City, and support slots with Richard Ashcroft, The View, and Embrace.
Says Darren: “
We love experimenting and being creative in the studio but that’s only half the story for us. Our shows are a collective experience, so if a song gets people going mad at a gig, then we’ve got a winner.”
Shambolics prepared for the tour with a homecoming gig at PJ Molloys in Fife, which raised over £700 for Kirkcaldy Foodbank.
Tickets for Sunday’s show at Dead Wax, Adderley Street, Digbeth, are priced from £11 from
