Open-air screenings are all the rage, but there are two things that make Screenfields stand out: the fact that audiences vote for what films are shown and the 'Lovers' Lawn' featuring double deckchairs. The films play on Thursday evenings until 12th September, with the 'flick picks' released every Friday. One film will be a favourite played in previous years at Screenfields and the other will be something new. Voting opens every Wednesday at 9am, with the winning film announced at 5.30pm.



Tickets range from free to £6, depending on which lawn you're in and whether you get a deckchair. It can be a bit annoying when you're seat-free, so get there early to secure the sought after seats.

I was walking past as last Thursday's screening took place. The lawns were filled with people enjoying a drink on the grass with their mates as the film played on the big screen.

The Lawns area has two large speakers, so you won't be hard of hearing. Screenfields truly is a cinema experience, but outside. So when the weather is to beautiful to hide away from, you can enjoy some classic movies outside, and with In Bloom and Long Bar either side of the lawns, instead of popcorn, enjoy a beer, cocktail, or glass of wine. Win.
