The School of Hard Knocks is a social inclusion charity that uses sports to tackle issues of unemployment, antisocial behaviour, crime, and health. Courses are run in prisons, schools, and the workplace by expert coaches and mentors, who help people turn their lives around.
Since 2007, the School of Hard Knocks has been documented by Sky Sports five times, turning it into a high profile charity with unique programme of challenging activities. By providing sports that some people might not otherwise have access to, it gives individuals a chance to release pent up emotions and learn to work together as a team. Teaching core values, such as respect and responsibility, and discipline, the participants able to take positive steps forward in their lives by building confidence and staying motivated.
As part of a fundraiser, each year the School of Hard Knocks organises a Summer Party. This year it will be held at at Wimbledon Rugby Football Club on the 11th July from 6pm. Tickets are free, but they take donations at the door. There will be live music and entertainment.
