Santa Shuttles on the Ruislip Lido Railway

Ruislip Lido narrow gauge railway has been in operation since 1945 and has been extensively redeveloped and enlarged since then. My memories go back to the 1990s when the line only went into the woods and back again. Now, you can travel all the way round the 60 acre lake, beginning and ending your journey from the three stations: Haste Hill, Waters Edge and Woody Bay. The Lido itself is free and is a great place for kids to play on and around the sandy beach. Food can be enjoyed at the Waters Edge pub.


Santa Shuttles will be running again this year over the weekend before Christmas. Trains will depart from Ruislip Lido Station every 50 minutes between 11.20 and 15.30 on both days; tickets must be booked via the website. Father Christmas will be around for chats and photos but won't be travelling with you. Do you really think he could squeeze his sleigh and reindeers onto a narrow gauge railway train?
