Sanctum Soho is the hotel slap bang in the middle of Soho, close to Whole Foods Market and a mere walk behind Oxford street. The location is perfect.

It's pretty perfect inside too, dark wood floors and glamorous modern interior with luxuriously upholstered seats and a sleek staircase leading up to the rooms if you're not a fan of the speedy lift.

The bedrooms are small but modern and well kitted-out. Safe to say I was impressed with Sanctum Soho, so when I received an email about it offering a two-for-one afternoon tea price, I couldn't think of a better place to take my sister and mother when they came down to visit.

Sanctum Soho was very middle of the road when it came to the food. The spread was enticing enough with classic British eats like fish pie (not actually a pastry-pie), Welsh rarebit and strawberries with champagne, but my sister and I weren't that keen. Our mother on the other hand, loved it, which is all that matters.

We paid £35 for the afternoon tea, which is around the average price mark considering we were in central London.

I would only return to Sanctum Soho for a nights sleep - try elsewhere for an afternoon treat in the city.
