Just imagine sipping a glass of white wine with your freshly prepared salad, relaxing in the sun and gazing out to sea as the waves caress the sand.
If that sounds like a perfect afternoon to you then you want to head to
The Salix Café at Small Hope Beach on the Sandown to Shanklin revetment, where you can have all that and more.
**Inside and Outside Seating
**
I've been going to The Salix since Mari and Mark opened their beachside café just over a year ago where they offer good food, a warm welcome and a friendly atmosphere at their little café. A loyalty card repeatedly entices me back for my free seventh drink and free WiFi encourages me to stay a little bit longer than I should.
All outside seating faces the beautiful Sandown Bay where you dine at glass topped tables and sit on comfy dining chairs...
...or if you prefer, round the corner, you'll find a novel carved wooden log and tree trunk table.
There is also inside seating for those colder spring days and two armchairs to relax next to a cosy wood burner.
Dog, Walker and Sandy Feet Friendly
This dog-friendly licensed café is open all year round so even if you are out for a walk on a wintry wet day, you can pop inside for a hot chocolate or a bite to eat where you and your dog can enjoy a complimentary treat.
There's even a towel to dry off your dog.
Walkers and sandy feet are not a problem either, everyone receives a warm and friendly welcome at The Salix Café and if it feels a bit cold there are blankets to borrow so you can still sit outside and enjoy the fresh air.
The Salix Licensed Café on Small Hope Beach has become one of my favourite local pit stops whether I just want an ice cream as I stroll along the promenade, a coffee and a chat or some freshly cooked food.
