The organisers of Manchester's impending event Run in the Dark, however, have another idea. It's self-explanatory really, but Run in the Dark is about trust, confidence, and support. You won't be running alone, instead you'll be with a group of runner who are equally hoping you'll support them through the next 10km.
If you've only just got the running bug, you might want to opt for the 5km, as opposed to the 10km, which can be quite a long way to run, especially when visibility is low.
