If you've never done a half marathon, or even if you have, why not grab your running shoes and take on Hackney's half marathon in May? It's only the second time the event's been held, but it's already getting plenty of attention, meaning you'll have to get your name down soon to take part.


Starting and finishing in Homerton Road, the course [ pdf ] skirts Victoria Park and Hackney Downs, as well as taking you through the famous Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Along the way you'll be able to enjoy energy drinks, mist showers, some lovely scenery and, of course, crowds of enthusiastic onlookers cheering you and your weary legs all the way to the finish line.


If you're an experienced runner and go like a greyhound, you might even be in for a cash prize . That's right, the first three finishers in each of the male and female races will bag between £500 and £1000 for their efforts, with other prizes also offered.
