The
North Wall Arts Centre in Oxford's Summertown has a bumper programme of events and exhibitions for adults and they have not forgotten to provide something exciting for children too. The first half of this year will see five different shows especially for children.
Rumpelstiltskin will be the first of their series of kid's theatre performances on Thursday 14th February. There will be two shows at 11am and 1:30pm so no need to impinge on any romantic Valentine Day plans you might have for the evening.
Puppets, music and storytelling will bring to life this well known Grimm's fairytale. I remember this story vividly as a child, half excited and half scared as the story unfolded with the poor daughter of the Miller making her bargain with the imp and spinning the straw to gold. The Theatre of Widdershins always uses a unique songtrack created by composer Martin Thornton.
The
Theatre of Widdershins are a Bedfordshire based puppet company with sixteen years of experience. They have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2005 and are currently on tour with their Rumpelstiltskin and the Wheel of Fortune production.
Tickets to the show at the North Wall Arts Centre in Oxford are £7 and the recommended age is four .
Widdershins "aims to create pure gold on stage".
