If Winnie the Pooh had a rumbly in his tumbly then he would be after something sweet, but any rumbly tumblies this weekend is likely to indicate that bellies have already been filled with nectar. On the 12th & 13th October at ExCel London you can get into the carnival spirit (literally) with
RumFest, the seventh annual journey into a rum discovery.
There is nothing peculiar about the RumFest though (unless you see someone whose had a few too many); with over four hundred rare and diverse rums from across the globe, plus a tropical food market, you will be able to experience all the flavours of paradise. Some of the exhibitors include Bacardi, Brugal, Sunset, Coco Real, Caribbean, and The Pink Pigeon. Standard entry starts from £25, and a new ticketing system means that both connoisseurs and casual enthusiasts can get the most out of their experience, because everything is tailor made to suit you. Depending on which package you go for, you will receive a certain number of vouchers.; each voucher entitles you to 1cl sample.
As well as rums to sip and favour, you will be able to try out a whole bunch of cocktails put together by mixologists, watch live demonstrations, and see a carnival of dancers entertaining you with salsa, soca, reggae, zouk, and samba.
If you are interested in learning more, you can take a masterclass. There are a number to choose from, including a rather unusual rum and marshmallow pairing course.
