The Rose Villa Tavern is the Jewellery Quarter's newest pub, but at the core of this new venue are old school values, The is traditional in every sense of the word. Decor right down to the scent! It has that familiar barrel aged ale flavour, so thirsty folk, prepare to have you appetite whetted.
Service at the bar was, honestly, slow, but there were only two members of staff serving. Considering the bar was quiet - there were only five individuals already seated - we waited at least seven minutes before receiving our drinks. Nonetheless, the staff are charming, and happily throw banter back and forth between themselves and the customers.
The food service on the other hand was exceptionally quick; within fifteen minutes of placing our orders, our food was served, on small wooden chopping boards, which worked like a rustic plate.
They claim American Diner style cooking on their website, and they don't disappoint. My work colleagues ordered an array of cocktails and beers, and for an alcoholic drinks, chips and 'sandwich' - panini, stuffed burgers, actual slices of bread too, it only costs £6.00.
I ordered the buffalo wings and onion rings. The wings can be boneless or not (with a 1.00 charge for boneless), and they serve generously. It only costs £4.50, but they are very, very good.
Hot sauce was more enjoyable than other hot sauces I've tried in the past. Instead of a sweet heat, the hot sauce has a more of a savoury heat, rather than the burning kind I'm more familiar with.
The onion rings were pretty cool. Instead of at least two rings coated in batter, it was as though I had the large outer onion rings, coated in their fine and light, yet moreish and almost sweet beer batter (which complimented the hot sauce somet beautiful).
was a quiet, and ideal setting for our colleague's goodbye meal, I'd definitely visit again.
