The splendidly traditional styled eaterie in Teddington (you'll find it about a 5-10 minute walk from the train station) appears to be the complete package. From the greeting as you arrive to the food and service is first class and the ambience wonderful. Retro Bistro appears to be a delightful corner of France tucked away in Teddington.



I recently visited as part of a group of 30 work colleagues to this award winning restaurant as a company 'treat' to say well done for a successful quarter. (Lucky us, I know!). The restaurant boasts 2 Michelin stars, a double AA rosette award for culinary excellence as well as being crowned the Good Food Guide's restaurant of the year in 2012.

During my visit the staff were attentive, despite being overwhelmed with hungry diners. Luckily we had all pre-ordered three courses from a gorgeous selection of authentic french dishes. I had chosen Pork Rilette, Salmon Fishcake and Spiced Cinnamon Apple and although the service took a little longer than we would have liked, for a party of that size I was really impressed with the level of customer service, attentiveness and knowledge from the staff.



We had also a swing/jazz band playing to accompany our meal, although not normally a feature at Retro, it did help set off the food and the atmosphere of the night perfectly. When we eventually left, my party all agreed we had had a lovely night with quality food, good service and even better company.

The owner, flamboyant Vincent is a fan of organic based food and wines from around the world and this is reflected in the menu and in the friendly atmosphere. I would certainly recommend Retro Bistro to anyone looking for a romantic dinner, or those that simply enjoy quality food.
