Tucked away on a quiet street off Chiswick High Road, is the ever popular Restaurant Michael Nadra. Originally a seafood restaurant, the establishment underwent refurbishment a few years back, and reopened in 2010 with a new menu and the chef's name above the door.
The atmosphere is relaxed and intimate, and the waiting staff are incredibly attentive from the moment they welcome you inside. Chef Michael Nadra has previously worked at some of the UK's best restaurants - including nearby La Trompette - so the menu is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but the food is most definitely worth it. As well as a 6-course tasting menu for the table (lunch £39, dinner £49) or a 4-course game tasting menu (lunch £30, dinner £40), you can pick from an extensive fixed-price lunch or dinner menu of 2 or 3 courses (lunch 2 courses £19.50, 3 courses £24, dinner 2 courses £29, 3 courses £35).
Starters include mouth-watering options such as ceviche of Scottish salmon or tempura of soft shell crab (the tempura actually comes out crab-shaped), the mains range from seabass to venison saddles, and to finish off there are tempting desserts such as treacle tart with cornish clotted cream and gooseberry sorbet. Whatever you pick, you won't be disappointed. The flavours are fresh and tasty, the fish dishes are cooked to perfection and the meat is tender and juicy. There are no veggie dishes on the menu, but don't worry, if you are vegetarian, let them know in advance and they will create a dish especially. There is also an extensive wine list of over 200 wines.
Restaurant Michael Nadra is the ideal place for a romantic or celebratory meal, but make sure you reserve in advance as the restaurant gets booked up, especially at weekends. Located at 6-8 Elliott Road, the nearest tube is Turnham Green, which is on the District Line, or there are plenty of taxis and bus connections on nearby Chiswick High Road.
