The temperature's dropping, the nights are drawing in, and it's time for the high streets to dish out some razzle-dazzle to shoppers in the form of this year's festive illuminations.
The Regent Street Christmas light switch-on promises to be among London's brightest this year, thanks to the appearance of Olympic stars from Team GB. Long jump gold medallist Greg Rutherford and Paralympic couple Sarah and Barney Storey, who between them won five gold medals at London 2012, will be joined on stage by over 40 team mates.
In line with the Olympian theme of "Going for Gold", the street will be decked out with golden garlands and filigree plaques telling the story of the Twelve Days of Christmas.
The entertainment kicks off at 5:30pm on 13 November with Christmas carols and live music. Stars from Matilda will sing songs from the West End musical. Presenters John Suchet and Jamie Crick will introduce acts including Tine Ting Helseth and The Masques and opera singer Noah Stewart, and the evening will end with a fireworks finale.
