What do you get when you mix a tomato with a pepper? A pizza topping, a tasty salsa, or perhaps the ultimate live cooking show. Yes, after sixteen glorious years of television entertainment,
Ready Steady Cook has returned not to the screen, but to the stage.
The game show that ran between 1994 - 2010 was a fun, audience interactive programme that I loved to watch. Although it was a competition, no one really cared who won. What was great was how the celebrity chefs taught you how to make delicious budget meals with random ingredients that you would otherwise be at a loss to know what to do with. The chefs were on a thirty minute countdown, so it also proved that the dishes could be made quickly.
Now in its same, much loved, format,
Ready Steady Cook Live will be touring Britain between 24th September 2013 - 15th April 2014. Bringing a touch of camp to the proceedings, Russell Grant will be replacing Ainsley Harriott as the host. The show will also feature executive chef, Lesley Waters, as well as other celebrity guest chefs that will be announced nearer the time.
As an audience member, you will be able to vote for your favourite team, ask any culinary questions you may have, and join in the countdown - 'three, two, one, stop cooking.'
There is also the chance to take part in the show itself. Once you
book a ticket, you will be offered the chance to enter a prize draw to become a member of Team Green Pepper. Alternatively, listen out on your local radio station a few weeks before the event to find out how to become a member of Team Red Tomato.
