Over the past year, I have been involved with a man who has a sister who has a severe disability, called cerebral palsy. She is a lovely teenager and is such a pleasure to have met. Over the year, I have gained knowledge and understanding when it concerns disabilities with children. This has led me to the pleasure of joining in a social event, that funds and support children who are less able.
Sunday 4th June, Leicester Cricket Club, held a Rainbows event, which was sponsored by the clothing store NEXT. Aside from the free food, beverages, and interactive stalls, it was a beautiful experience to watch these carefree, beautiful children have fun. They laughed, screamed, played, ran and most of all forgot about all their troubles, parents and loved ones, also included.
Most of all, It was amazing the thought and care that Rainbows and other volunteers, put into the event. They entertained the children, kept their spirits and their laughter high. They played and offered so much comfort to all, who attended the event.
Although that day, I stood as a bystander who watched and occasionally joined in, with games, I had never felt more at home. The heart-warming experience was beyond beautiful, I left the place feeling warm, happy and tearful.
