I wasn't intending to go in here the first time I entered through the door, to be honest. I was so glad I did. Once you get past the idea that this is a pub which is in need of a little t.l.c. (if I'm brutally honest) - at the heart is a great, great drinking establishment. It is warm, it is welcoming and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful - and you are always guaranteed a seat ' a luxury in this part of London. Everything you could want from a pub really.

You can tell this as soon as you walk in the door and look over to the bar area. You would find it hard to find a better stocked bar in the whole of London in my opinion. The bar is already long, but if you add to that the fridges both in and around the bar, the number of pumps...you get the picture - lots and lots and lots of choice.

There are usual lagers and spirits, but on top of that, there is a massive selection of German beers, and on top of that, and for me probably the best thing, the unbelievable selection of Belgian beers on offer. Looking in the huge stand up fridge next to the bar is like looking into a treasure trove of the best the Belgians have to offer.

Ok, so about the prices, you've probably seen that good beers, like everything else, cost good money. Unbelievably here, they don't, most of the beers are actually no more expensive than the standard ones, and yes, that's even for Trappist beers too.

Can I recommend this place highly enough? In actual fact, no I can't - it's my favourite of all London pubs, and for that reason I am almost a little sad to tell you, selfish that I am - the secret is now out...
