They have undoubtedly been one of the best live bands around for years and, happily, they will be continuing to delight audiences as a new year gets underway.
Quill are the ultimate folk-rock band who have been performing their delightful Celtic folk inspired music for some four decades. It is a lasting pity that they have never quite achieved the huge fame they thoroughly deserve but, led by lead singer Joy Strachan-Brain, they have entertained and delighted audiences, particularly throughout their Midlands base, with their energetic live stage shows. And those fans can now see them perform in the main auditorium of the
Lichfield Garrick theatre on Saturday 28 January.

Quill has developed its unique musical style over many years from its early days performing in Birmingham area pubs such as The Tyburn House and The Hunter's Moon, to larger venues including the Robin2 in Bilston and Birmingham Town Hall. The regular five-piece line-up built its Celtic folk rock reputation by performing covers of such legendary bands as Fleetwood Mac and Meatloaf, with Joy's wonderful harmonies supported by guitar, violin, keyboards and drums.

But in more recent years Quill has been writing its own material, including the recent EP called England which featured three songs by bass guitarist Ben Brain - Joy's husband - who sadly passed away in 2012. The band very nearly called it a day but happily decided to carry on. A new album called Brush with the Moon followed, while Quill also took to the road at the end of 2013 on its first ever theatre tour. Such is the high regard that Quill have been held in that the band recently featured former Move and ELO drummer Bev Bevan in its line-up, a decision which followed Joy performing vocals on the Made in Brum rock tour of 2012 which also featured Bev and comedy star Jasper Carrott.
