Brush up on your Franco-British knowledge, you'll need it for the Portsmouth-Caen Twinning Gala Quiz Night on January 26th. The quiz night is presented by the Caen-Portsmouth Friendship Committee, a volunteer group that aims to build connections between the twin cities of Caen in France and Portsmouth in the UK. The theme is 'Entente Cordiale' and there will be a number of Franco-British themed questions amongst the general ones.
The quiz night is being held at the Lord Mayor's Banqueting Suite at the Portsmouth Guildhall and will be hosted by the Lord Mayor of Portsmouth, Councillor Ken Ellcome. Tickets are £10 per person, and are available through Eventbrite. Get your table together and start brushing up on some French & British general knowledge.
As well as the quiz night, there will also be a raffle and prizes to be won. The top prize is courtesy of Brittany Ferries and includes a return trip on the Portsmouth-Caen-Portsmouth route. Other raffle prizes have been sourced from France and the sister city, Caen. Money from the raffle will help support the Caen-Portsmouth Friendship Committee.
Quiz night winners will also get a prize to share. No word on what the winning prize it, but it will also have a French theme.
The quiz night runs from 7:30pm till 10:00pm. The Portsmouth Guildhall is in Guildhall Square in Portsmouth. It's about 24 miles outside of Southampton.
