If we're talking about the godfathers of indie rock, Bristol's The Pop Group cannot be overlooked. The list of artists influenced by post-punk titans reads like a who's who of alternative music from the last twenty years, with performers as diverse Nick Cave and Primal Scream singing their praises.
The Pop Group's initial career was criminally short-lived. Coming out of Bristol on the first wave of post-punk in 1978, the group disbanded in 1981 after some internal disharmony. Fortunately for fans of Britain's musical heritage, the band re-emerged in 2010 and now have a UK wide tour planned.
Their can be few better places to catch this iconic set of musicians than at the Bodega in Nottingham. Located on Pelham Street in the city centre, the venue cum bar cum club has garnered a well-deserved reputation as one of the most popular live music locations in the city.
Head down to Bodega on the evening of October 21st to catch a British musical institution in action. The gig is strictly over 14s only and tickets cost £19.50 including booking fee. Doors are at 7pm and be sure to get there early, as the gig is slated to finish at 10pm!
