While there is never any shortage of restaurants, pubs or cafes to eat at in London, finding a place that sells high quality produce, heath foods or groceries outside of the usual Tesco or Sainsbury's can be a little trickier.

Pomona Foods is situated directly opposite Belsize Park tube and you'll spot it right away by the wonderful, huge selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables out the front of the shop, under a marquee.

Opening in 2002, the aim of Pomona was to supply the finest foods, favouring organic and locally sourced produce. And that's exactly what they do.

Once inside, you will find wonderful selection of organic wines, gourmet cheeses, over 50 varieties of bread (including gluten-free options and long life breads such as sunflower, pumpernickel and rice breads), chocolates, award winning teas and coffees, fresh meats and fresh fish (directly from the Cornish Dayboats and dependent on what's available from that days catch).

Pomona is also a particularly great spot for vegan, vegetarian and health foods with their products differing from the usual selection found at Holland & Barrett stores (including fresh delieveres of Amy's Kitchen ready-made foods).

In addition to all the wonderful gourmet foods, you will also find cupboard essentials including pasta, beans, pulses, rice, flour, nuts, seeds as well as a small shelf containing earth-conscious household products and baby products.

While you might not do your full shop at Pomona, don't be intimidated; the staff are lovely and helpful and it's great to have a local store that takes so much pride in their produce and product selection.
