Poems Puns 'n' Pints Night at Station Pub

Sutton Coldfield's Amnesty International group is promising to tickle your funny bone and whet your whistle at its annual Poems, Puns 'n' Pints Night.

The group, which is the town's branch of the global human rights campaigning group Amnesty International, is staging the event at The Station pub in Station Street, Sutton Coldfield on Friday November 29 at 8pm.

It is the third year running that the group has organised the comedy, poetry, acoustic music and drinks night which will also include a raffle and the opportunity for people to sign petitions and letters.

Sutton Coldfield Amnesty International Chairman Andrew Hindle says: "These evenings are proving to be very popular – with audiences and also with performers who enjoy the opportunity to participate.
"Anyone who would like to take to the stage at the event can contact me in advance at [email protected] or is more than welcome to turn up on the night with their poems or comedy routine ready for action.
"This year we have decided not to charge an entrance fee but instead to ask people for donations towards Amnesty International's valuable work.
"Sadly there are thousands of prisoners of conscience imprisoned, tortured or under house arrest and other constraints around the world and Amnesty is hard at work campaigning for their human rights to be recognised."

The Sutton Coldfield branch of Amnesty International meets on the second Tuesday of every month (except August) at 8pm at the Conference Centre, Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 69 Lichfield Road, Sutton Coldfield, B74 2NU. New members are always given a warm welcome.
