What better way could music lovers and festival goers think to spend their time than listening to top pop bands live on stage? What better place to be that in the audience, throwing you knickers at the the current boy wonder?

I have an inkling there is one thing that could be better. Instead of listening to the music, you're playing the music. Instead of watching from the stage, you're on the stage. Instead of throwing your knickers, you're having them thrown at you. Okay, I guess the third one depends on how clean they are.

OnBlackheath are running an exciting competition for an up and coming band to perform at their festival on the 14th September. To be in with a chance, all you have to do is upload a video of you and your group performing. Fans will vote for their top five acts starting from the 7th July, and the ultimate winner will be decided by music and entertainment legend, Harvey Goldsmith.

You have until the 6th July to submit you entry, which can be done by Liking the #PlayOnBlackheath Facebook page, and following the instructions.

If you would like to check out the competition, get an idea of what they are after, or simply vote for your favourite band, you can watch the current entries here.

If you win, not only will you get to perform at the, but be able to attend the entire weekend (13th & 14th September) festival for free. Adult tickets are usually 57.50 or 35 for under 16s.

Aside from your own lovely vocals, you will be accompanied by singers such as Massive Attack, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, and Imelda May.

While the music artists fill your soul with tunes, let the chefs fill your tummy with food. A whole host of great British cooks will be demonstrating their skills on the Food Stage. The festival will feature Michelin starred chefs Richard Bainbridge, Simon Hulstone, and Adam Simmonds. Also appearing are Jack Stein, Neil Rankin, Valentine Warner, the glamorous Meringue Girls, and the Chiappa Sisters.

A unique Chef's Club is to be hosted by food writer, Gizzi Erskine. Tickets are 25, which will include a two course meal and accompanying drink to showcase each chef's style and ethos.

Alternatively, you can wash it all down with a Yakima Red or London Lager from the London-based craft brewery, Meantime Brewing Company.
