Fans of
Harry Potter are probably familiar with the once named Pottermore. The interactive website was full of content including articles, features, and news about everything going on in the world of
Harry Potter. It also allowed fans to take an official sorting hat quiz, discover their Patronus, and receive their own unique wand. However, with the addition of
Fantastic Beasts and
The Cursed Child, there felt a growing need for change. Just two months ago, Pottermore closed its doors and moved to a brand new site called
Wizarding World . Appropriately named to encompass the entire magical franchise, Wizarding World has retained all the wonderful features of Pottermore and has expanded into something much more. One of the new additions includes
Wizarding Gold , an annual subscription service (£59.99) that offers exclusive discounts, products, and experiences. While lots of benefits can be accessed using digital media, many others encourage fans to go out on day trips to explore the magic outside in the real world. Here are four locations in London where you can make the most of your Wizarding Gold subscription.
For all these places, please make sure you have a mobile device with you so that you can access and log into the Wizarding World App. You will need to present your Wizarding Passport as confirmation. There is no wifi connection required for this.
House of MinaLima
%%26 Greek Street, Soho, London, W1D 5DE
10:30am - 7pm, Mon-Fri
Free Entry%%https://minalima.com/
Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima are graphic designers for the
Harry Potter and
Fantastic Beast films. They designed everything from the articles in the
Daily Prophet to the packaging of Weasley Wizard Wheezes products. Their gallery is filled with spectacular limited edition prints of these designs, along with textbook replicas, wand permits, and much more. As a member of Wizarding Gold, you can get 10% off at The House of MinaLima as well as their online store.
Harry Potter and The Cursed Child
Palace Theatre, 113 Shaftesbury Ave, London W1D 5AYhttps://www.harrypottertheplay.com/uk/
Just around the corner from MinaLima is Palace Theatre, home to the play,
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Members of Wizarding Gold can get priority tickets, which means you can buy tickets before they officially go on sale. Given how fast tickets can sell out, this is very useful and avoids the stress the rushing to order tickets the second they are released. Early access also means that you have the first pick of the latest seats available. In order to make your early access booking, you need to follow the link provided in the Wizarding World app.
Whether you want to go to see the play or not, you should definitely pay a visit to the box office. Wizarding Gold has created some beautiful pin badges which can be collected at various
Harry Potter related locations as memento for your visit. There are currently three available in London, but they are limited to an unspecified limited number, so are on a 'while stocks last' basis.
Platform 9 ¾
%%The Harry Potter Shop at Platform 9 ¾, Kings Cross Station, London, N1 9AP
8am - 10pm Mon-Sat, 9am - 9pm Sun%%https://www.harrypotterplatform934.com
Platform 9 ¾ is where Harry's journey to Hogwarts begins, so it is no surprise that it is one of the most iconic locations in the series. It is also no surprise that a
Harry Potter shop popped into existence at Kings Cross Station. Filled with Wizarding World memorabilia, you can find school robes, character wands, prop replicas, and everything in between. Gold members can get 10% off everything in-store and 20% off from their online store. This discount applies to already discounted items, so it is possible to get some very good deals.
Platform 9 ¾ is the second place on this list where you can pick up a charming hard enamel pin badge. The pin badges are attached to a card with a picture of a key on the back. These are 'Enchanted Keys' and work like a digital barcode. Using your Wizarding World App, you can scan the key to access bonus material.
The Making of Harry Potter - Studio Tour Londn
%%Warner Bros. Studio Tour London, Studio Tour Drive, Leavesden, WD25 7LR
9:30am - 8pm Mon-Wed, 9:30am - 6pm Thurs-Fri, 8:30am - 10pm Weekends%%https://www.wbstudiotour.co.uk
Saving the best till last, The Harry Potter Studio Tour is an incredible journey through the real sets and props used in the making of the films. Starting in the Great Hall, you will also get to walk through the Forbidden Forest, step onto the Hogwarts Express, fly a broomstick, and drink butterbeer. Usually, tickets need to be booked months in advance if you want to get a date that suits you, but as a member of Wizarding Gold, you can buy up to 4 last-minute tickets as late as 7 days beforehand. You can access this offer via the link provided in the Wizarding World app.
The Studio Tour is also the last place on this list where you can collect an exclusive pin badge. These can be collected at the Information Desk before entering the tour. As well as being able to unlock an Enchanted Key from the pin, you should also remember to keep a lookout for a hidden Enchanted Key located in the tour itself. A wifi connection is required to scan the key, but the tour provides free wifi access.
There are three gift shops that can be found on the tour, all of which provide a 10% discount to any Gold member.
Not only that, but Gold members have the opportunity to have grand Christmas Feast in the Great Hall. This year's Christmas feast has already taken place, but if you become in January, then you will get the chance to book tickets for next year. Tickets become available late November, are limited and sell very fast, so you have to be quick.
While this list covers all the places you can currently make use of Wizarding Gold in London, that is by no means the end of it. If you ever plan on taking a trip to the US, there are several more locations you can benefit. These include:
1.Warner Bros. Studio Tour: Hollywood
2. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: Broadway
3. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child: San Francisco
4. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Universal Orlando Resort
