Ping Pong Restaurant, Southbank

This weekend, I had an excuse to book a nice restaurant (being a belated Valentine's excursion), and it was with glee that I made a reservation at Ping Pong, in South Bank. I booked online, although their website was a bit glitchy so I had to use a different booking site. I was extra excited to find that since it was so near to Valentine's Day, I would get a free love-themed cocktail per person with my booking (providing I booked for two). I even got a speedy reply to an email enquiry I sent, so I was content to book, even at quite late notice.
The restaurant recently had work done inside and I have to say it looked lovely, using its Asian theme and working it into the decor, in a classy and interesting way. They ditched their previous sharing tables for the traditional seating, which I prefer. I already knew the food was good as I've been before and I wasn't disappointed, especially as we were treated to free prawn crackers by the very friendly and attentive staff.
The cocktails were good (and strong). The menus are set up in a unique but useful way that means you can mark down what you want instead of having to shout mispronounced food names, and if you did what we did, you can order small bits to share and then order more when they're not enough. The desserts looked good but by that point we were too full to consider it, so instead we walked the 5-10 minute walk to Waterloo station, which isn't too far even whilst tottering in silly heels like I was.
So, if you fancy a bit of a splurge and you like Asain food and interesting cocktails, I can definitely recommend Ping Pong; although I would book first as its business matches its quality.
