I think it's a mark of a restaurant's strength if they attract the same customers continually. I've been here twice in two weeks.

My sister and I took our father here for his birthday and then took our mother there, the following week.

It is undeniably one of the best Italian restaurants I've eaten at in Birmingham. The staff are Italian and our waiter, the second time, explained that all of the meat on the menu is local as are the vegetables.

I've eaten the same meal twice each time I've dined here, mostly because the food is sensational, but I also like to know what's coming, and whilst a surprise is always fun, knowing that the meal I'm going to eat is going to be scrumptious, fills me with even more joy.

On my last trip, my Mother had the potato ghnocchi with a cream and mushroom sauce and my sister, just as the week before, ordered - and devoured - the duck, which is served with white, baked peaches and a rich, plum sauce. I cannot tell you how good the duck meal is without drooling.

If you're into Italian food and don't mind spending a little bit more on a meal, go for Piccolinos. Our meal (for three) came to £90, which is pretty average for three mains and six drinks in this rather swanky part of the city.

Even if you just pop to Piccolono's for drinks, you are more than welcome. But if you're hungry, book a table because it fills up quickly after 7pm.
