Cocktails On Menu At Revamped Bar
Grand and luxurious, the new Piano Bar makes a world of difference to Birmingham's New Alexandra Theatre.
Walls have been knocked down, raised floors removed and a radical upholstery overhaul that wouldn't go amiss on a TV show like Changing Rooms has led to a dramatic improvement.
Not only is it shimmering in satins and chic suede chairs but theatre bosses have brought the venue bang up to date behind the bar too with cocktails, champagne and other additions to the menu.
And at the centre of it all is a baby grand piano to keep the crowds entertained with a touch of sophistication.
It's all part of a £1million investment for New Alexandra Theatre, in Station Street, which also includes new seats, carpet and more at the historic theatre in Station Street.
A total of £250,000 has been spent by Ambassador Theatre Group redeveloping the two separate bar areas in the theatre to give the impression of one larger luxurious area, in a move to dramatically improve the theatre's public spaces.
Since 2013 the £1million investment has included new seats and carpets in the Stalls and Dress Circle including ProBax Technology; new toilets in the Dress Circle; a new orchestra pit which can be covered with additional seating rows when not in use, and a more welcoming open-plan box office.
There's also been extensive improvements back of house including a new flying system and sound deck, plus it's now easier for wheelchair users to get access to the theatre.
The Piano Bar is a welcome addition for theatre-goers but is also open to passers-by who want to stop off for a drink.
