The Capitals Best Ensemble of Classical Musicians

One of the capitals best classical bands of musicians are preparing for another nine-month long festival at their residential home of the Southbank Centre. The London Philharmonic Orchestra 2014/15 Series will feature Rachmaninoff: Inside Out, which focusses on Russia's last Romanticist poet. There will also be premiers showcasing new music by Harrison Birtwistle, composer in residence, Julian Anderson, new composer in Residence, Magnus Lindberg, and James Horner, who won two Oscars for his score in Titanic.

Alongside the orchestra, there will be a selection of guest musicians such as Vassily Sinaisky, Barbara Hannigan, Mikhail Petrenko, Marin Alsop, Katia and Marielle Labeque, Maria Joćo Pires, Lars Vogt, and Robin Ticciati. The series will celebrate the talents of revered greats such as the 92 year old pianist, Menahem Pressler, as well as youngsters making a name for themselves.

The series will open on the 15th September with Big Nightmare Music. Comedy duo, Igudesman & Joo will present classic pieces with a twist.

The series will end on the 3rd May with something for the family. Funharmonics allows you to have a go at an orchestral instrument of your choice under expert instruction.

In between all that, you can listen to Shostakovich's Vision Of War, Colourful French Favourites, and more.
