Music for the people by the people
A year ago, The People's Orchestra was set up to be a musical outlet for the general public in the West Midlands. Now the amateur group marks its first successful 12 months with a free concert.

The People's Orchestra marks its first year with a free concert

The concert takes place at 7pm on Sunday March 24th at The Public, West Bromwich.

Over 90 minutes, the Orchestra - made up of local talented musicians from housewives to doctors - will perform an array of music inspired by movies, including soundtracks from Pirates of the Caribbean, Slumdog Millionaire and James Bond.

The Orchestra will also debut pieces from its sports-themed concert, which is scheduled for later this year and is set to include well-loved themes from Ski Sunday and Formula 1 racing.

Over the past year, orchestra members have performed their first concert together, Trailers, at the Adrian Boult Hall and entertained crowds across the region in venues, including Birmingham's Millennium Point.
