Wether you love dogs, fashion, or shopping, the
Paw Pageant at Old Spitafields Market will be a Bark Holiday crammed full of family fun activities. On Monday 26th August you will discover that this traditional market place has been transformed into a fabulous four-legged fashion show for pooches of all shapes and sizes.
To start off the morning, dogs will strut the runway, showcasing the latest canine couture by Lily from
LoveMyDog. Her products range from collars, tags, and leads to handmade coats, sweaters, and scarves. Lily is also donating a £500 worth hamper to a lucky raffle winner.
In the afternoon it will be time for the public to take over. Between 1pm-3.30pm owners can enter their dogs into one of six categories, including Dressed up to the Canines, Jimmy Chews (the naughtiest dog), Six of the best (one human, one dog, six legs), Mini-mutt (smallest dog in show), Maxi-mutt (biggest dog in show), and Paw-fection (best in show). You can enter on the day for £8 or register in advance for £5 by emailing saskia@wellingtonmarkets.co.uk.
For those worried about the ethical side of doggy dress up, you can rest assured that all the animals are treated with the utmost respect, and all the money raised goes towards
Battersea Dogs & Cats Home. There will also be free micro-chipping, which is soon going to be a legal requirement for all dog owners in the UK.
As well as the show, the market itself will still be in full swing, with a specialist section dedicated to doggy traders, including Teddy and Lu, Sniffys, and Beach Dog Bakery. You will be able to buy your pals lots of treats, from food to fashion to toys.
