Blues Rockers Take It From The Top
Help is at hand if your knowledge of Paul Lamb and The Detroit Breakdown is a little woolly.
The blues rockers have released a compilation album of top tracks from their first three long players and EP, just so you know what to expect when they tour the UK in May and June. The British trek, which begins on May 24, includes a show at Robin 2 in Bilston on May 28.
Detroit-born Paul explains the thinking behind the new Take It From The Top album.
''The songs selected for this collection are an amalgamation of the songs that have gotten the most radio spins and those that are the most requested live,'' he says. ''The remastering was done by the illustrious Motown and United Sound engineer Ed Wolfrum. It is a joy to work with Ed. It is always a comprehensive education. His endless wealth of knowledge and experience is truly inspiring.''
The band - Paul Lamb on guitar and vocals, Layla Hall on drums and backing vocals and Joey Spina on bass and backing vocals – have just been nominated as Best Overseas Artist in the 2014 British Blues Awards.
They cut their teeth performing hundreds of shows across the US, as well as playing Glastonbury and touring with the likes of Walter Trout and Peter Green.
The songs on Take It From The Top are taken from the albums Hangin' On For Dear Life, Gunshot Lullaby and Tales From The Gravel and the EP Sunrise From The Other Side.
Adds Paul: ''I hope you enjoy listening to these tracks as much as I enjoyed recording them. So turn it up loud enough to rattle the dust off the chandelier and chase the birds from the trees!''
