Situated right in the heart of Leeds City Centre, Pasta Romagna is about as authentically Italian as you can get in Yorkshire. Greeted by the blaring typically operatic music and an exuberant staff you could be led to believe you had left the dreary reality of Albion Place and have been transported to a small delicatessen more likely to be in Rome.

Cheap and easy, you can buy pizza by the slice and freshly prepared salads with lashings of olive oil and the obligatory mozzarella; this could be the Italian equivalent of fast food. The service is quick and friendly made all the better by owner Gilda's energetic singing contributing to the lively atmosphere.

The food itself was incredibly good value, hearty, no frills, good pizza and pasta which I followed with a slice of chocolate fudge cake: divine. Not the place I'd recommend if you're watching your waist line but for a fun experience to fill a hole accumulated from a hard day's shopping, this is the place to be.
