Located in Broxbourne in Hertfordshire is one of the best zoos in the country. It is a great day away from London, and with over 400 different animals on site as well as a variety of different attractions, makes for the perfect family day out.
It does everything you would expect from a normal zoo, and the animal attractions include different sections. They are; the amphibians, the birds, the farmyards animals, the mammals and the reptiles and spiders. However, it also provides a very different chance to get closer to the animals that you may not get at other zoos. They have various opportunities to meet different animals close up. You can feed the big cats including the Tigers and Lions, you can overcome your phobias of creepy-crawlies and you can meet some of the more cute members of the park, like the Red Pandas and everyone's favourites, the Meerkats.
The different and unique experiences don't stop there though. You can shadow a zookeeper for a day. You can pick from almost all of the types of animals in the park as to which one you help take care of for the day. Whether it be the big cats or the monkeys, the choice is yours. If all of this sounds good, then you can stay the night. You don't get the chance to stay at a zoo very often, so having the chance to listen to the sounds of the animals as the sun sets isn't one you want to miss out on. You can find out more information about the hotel
here.
So, to summarise, after going to many-a-times in my younger days, I can confirm that it is well worth a trip, especially if you are going with the family. Even if you get a bit tired of seeing the animals (although I don't see why you would) you can go and play a bit of mini golf and send the kids off to the indoor play centre whilst you grab a coffee. So give it a go, it really does have something for everyone.
