As a writer, I appreciate the importance being able to express yourself in a creative way. I was always encouraged and supported by my parents and teachers and that kept me motivated and helped me improve. The next generation need the same encouragement; whether or not they intend to pursue a career in the arts or not, creativity is essential in all walks of life, It helps us work through problems, find out of the box solutions, and is a release from the everyday stress we face.
Writerz n Scribez is a project that aims to pass the torch of creativity to young people and promote the freedom of expression through weekly writing workshops. With a cast of teachers who work in a range of genres such as rap, poetry, scriptwriting, songwriting, and the spoken word, Writerz n Scribez builds up confidence, passion, and skills in young people.
At the end of the six-week course, there will be a grand Page to Stage event, where the students will have the opportunity to showcase their lyrical genius to a wide and diverse audience. As the project also promotes students' work online, it is a great way to get exposure, create contacts, and get linked up with industry professionals. There is also the chance for a six-month mentorship for anyone who wishes to progress further.
