In Simon Gray's latest production, Quartermaine's Terms, Rowan Atkinson takes on the role of a kind-hearted, but completely useless teacher. Set in the 1960s at an English language school for foreign students, Quartermaine's Terms is a funny, heart-warming, and quintessentially English play.
With an extensive list of comedic roles under his belt, I can see Rowan Atkinson as being perfect for the part. He plays the perfect blithering idiot (meant as a compliment, honestly), from the inarticulate Mr. Bean to the cock-up secret agent, Johnny English, Atkinson pulls off ridiculous characters and makes them loveable and believable.
Quartermaine's Terms will begin at the Wyndham's Theatre on the 23rd January 2013, and run for 12 weeks. There will also be special previews at Theatre Royal Brighton between 8th-12th January, and at Theatre Royal Bath between 14-19th January. Performances are Monday to Saturday at 2.30pm and 7.30pm, with tickets costing between £25-58.50.
