I was keen, but a little dubious, when some friends from my university course asked if I'd like to join them for a night out at OK Karaoke bar in Leeds City Centre. It turned out to be the most fun I'd had in a long time, with some unforgettable memories.

Ok Karaoke offers private karaoke booths, which means that you and your friends can enjoy an evening together without having to take turns with other guests. The song choice is very varied, and the songs performed on our evening ranged from Ghetto Gospel, to a spoken version of Stairway to Heaven, to Wuthering Heights (accompanied by a Kate Bush-style dance from one of my friends). The booth also comes with a service button, so you can order drinks from the comfort of the booth.

The best time to go is on a Tuesday, as it is free. Other nights it is £5 per person, per hour, except Wednesdays when the cost is halved. Drinks are very reasonable, and a selection of shots and shooters are available for £1 each, while 'bomb' drinks are 2 for £5. Cocktails and fishbowls are also on offer if you feel like a long drink. Cocktails are between £5 and £6, while fishbowls are £8.95 each.

OK also do deals for under 18's at £10 each, which include props as well as snacks and soft drinks.



A few drinks are key to get yourself relaxed and cheerful enough to crack out a belter on the karaoke machine, just don't do what I did and get drunk, otherwise you will wake up the next morning, not remembering that you sang Bohemian Rhapsody while having to be propped up by a kind friend...
