Get ready to embrace your inner miner during at the National Coal Mining Museum from October 26 to November 3, 2024. We're serving up a smorgasbord of stories and creativity to keep your kids entertained while you try not to lose your marbles. Dive deep with our underground tours—yes, we're talking 140 meters down into the earth where history lurks around every corner. It's only £7.50 per person, but be sure to book ahead unless you fancy standing in line like a gopher on a Sunday stroll.
Each day features "Striking Stories" at 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM, 1:30 PM, and 2:30 PM, where you can enjoy fascinating yarns from Uncle Fred or Auntie Brenda about the 1926 Strike. Plus, get your craft on in the Makers' Shed from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM. We'll also have family lantern-making workshops on October 30, 31, and November 1—because who doesn't want a handcrafted lantern to illuminate their life? And for the budding Picassos aged 7-12, Caphouse Creators on November 3 will be right up your alley. Just remember that we take Mondays and Tuesdays off, because even museums need a break. So, come along and make some memories that will last longer than your kids' attention spans.
