is a small, busy and cozy restaurant situated on High Road Leyton. The blue exterior with two Portuguese flags stands out on the street and upon entering you'll immediately feel welcomed as someone greets you, offering a table to sit at.
Two televisions play the Portuguese news or a game of football (The Portuguese are mad for their sports). The menu consists of a lot of Portuguese dishes that include a lot of meat and fish; they also serve basic dishes such as Spaghetti Bolognese.
When I first arrived I ordered a starter of bread, butter, pate and olives. It arrived immediately followed by drinks, one can of a pineapple flavoured Portuguese soft drink; Sumol. After a few minutes the main meals arrived, mine being Espetada De Frango; grilled chicken skewers with a side of rice and Sauteéd potatoes and my partner ordering a seafood dish.
Once the food had vanished from my plate, and it didn't take long, I was passed the dessert menu that included different types of pudding, ice cream and other Portuguese desserts. Being a pudding lover, I ordered the caramel pudding and the house dessert however another dessert called baba de camelo; camel spit, is also a customer favourite made from condensed milk.
The owner of the restaurant, after having a nice long conversation, offered some drinks before leaving and we graciously accepted the offer and had a quick drink with her before leaving the restaurant.
The staff are friendly, the food is delicious and the restaurant feels like a home. Next time you pass Leyton High Road, pop in and try some Portuguese food – you'll enjoy it.
