Black, charcoal and grey are the primary colours of in Brindley Place. The dark tones set the mood as grown and (forgive me), sexy.

It's where the adults hang out after working a long week. I say adults because it is certainly not a student bar, and no kids are allowed. Strictly smart and for over 18s, Nuvo is possibly Brindley Place's closest description of a cocktail bar.

On a scheduled night out we decided to go to Nuvo for 'pre-drinks'. We planned on starting our evening here and going elsewhere. It's the perfect location to do just that; Nuvo is behind Broad Street (where all the clubs are), and a five minute drive from Arcadian.

Drinks ordered, we decided to sip slowly on the grey plushy sofas. The drinks are quite expensive: it's £9.80 for a Jack Daniels and coke, £3.40 for juice and £8.00 per cocktail. Like I said, we were only starting our evening here and sipped slowly.

It wasn't crowded but started to fill up gradually with an over 21 kind of crowd. If you're sick of the typical loud and drunk revellers you see on Broad Street, then Nuvo is you're kind of place. We were happily drinking, chatting over the not too loud music, and generally getting our party on.

Don't think I'm shy and retiring - the music is great, party-starting kind of music. Easy rhythms helped us unwind and the dance meets r'n'b tunes were right up our street. Jigging about in your chair is cool, but it's not the get up and dance kind of place. Nuvo is a bar, not a club, not that it stopped others.

For a polished start to the evening, I recommend Nuvo, it's actually rather glam'.
