Long before Andy met his lifelong pal, Woody the cowboy, there was another child who also that found her best friend came in the form of an old doll who magically comes to life.
A Victorian
Toy Story,
The Nutcracker Suite is probably Tchaikovsky's most famous ballet, and based on a charming story written by E. T. A. Hoffmann.
It is Christmas Eve, and Clara's grandfather is handing out handmade dolls to the children. But it isn't Christmas yet, and they have to be put back in their boxes until the big day. Seeing the children's disappointment, Clara's grandfather brings out another toy; an old nutcracker carved into the shape of a little man. Most of the children are not interested, but Clara is captivated.
Out of spite, Fritz breaks the nutcracker and Clara is heartbroken. It looks set to be a sad Christmas; that is until The Nutcracker comes to life. Join Clara and The Nutcracker on a magical night through a pine forest as the English National Ballet's Christmas production sends you back to a frost-covered, gas-lit London. With tickets starting from £10,
The Nutcracker will be performed at the London Coliseum between the 11th December - 5th January.
