As 2012 draws to a close, it's time to see the old year out in spectacular style and welcome in the new with a dazzling firework display.
The New Year's Eve event on London's South Bank adds the finishing touch to a memorable year which has seen the capital celebrate both the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics.
Our New Year's Eve fireworks will cap a triumphant year for London", promises London Mayor Boris Johnson.
Crowds will gather to join in the countdown as Big Ben chimes the hour of midnight and the firework display sparks off. Official viewing areas include Westminster Bridge, Waterloo Bridge, Victoria Embankment and the South Bank in front of the London Eye. These areas will start filling up from 8pm.
The official viewing areas have a limited capacity of 250,000 and will be closed off once that amount is reached. But other nearby spots in sight of the London Eye or Big Ben should also provide a decent view of the display.
