Every year, Manchester goes all out for the New Year's Eve fireworks. If you are looking for something to do this weekend, why not head into the city centre and see the magical display which is planned this year. Taking place in Albert Square, you will witness bringing in the New Year in style.

The free yearly event is a great way to bring in the New Year. This is an event suitable for the whole family as it is alcohol-free, making it great for families with children as long as you are willing to stay up late. Taking place from 10pm on Sunday 31st December, this is set to be a bigger and better display than previous years. During the event, visitors can enjoy poetry and messages on the big screen.

The fireworks display is always outside the Manchester Town Hall in Albert Square. Located in the centre of the city, it is advisable to get there early, as each year thousands of people head into the city to see the display. You can look forward to an amazing fireworks display at midnight and a countdown on a giant screen to bring in 2018.

With Christmas just over, you might be looking for a free event for the family to enjoy, as the school holidays come to an end. Manchester is known for putting on amazing, free events to mark big occasions, so why not make a visit this year. If you have never been before, it is always a popular event filled with thousands of people all bringing in the New Year together. There are also loads of restaurants open around the city if you fancy a meal beforehand or why not visit one of the numerous cafes and coffee shops for a hot drink before heading to Albert Square. This is always a fun, well-attended event that you will not want to miss - here's hoping the usually Manchester rainy weather stays away for this great event.
