If you're forever resolving to get fitter and healthier, but can't quite stomach yet another boring gym session, then why not try swimming? It's a fun and relaxing activity that gently tones and burns calories, and whether you go alone or with the whole family, it is an ideal way to spend a weekend morning or afternoon.

New Chiswick Pool
The swimming pool at New Chiswick Pool is run by the local council, in partnership with the sports and leisure organisation, Fusion, and is a modern and bright facility. The changing rooms are clean and airy, with plenty of individual lockable changing booths and a spacious family changing room. There are several rows of lockers where you can safely leave your belongings (you will need a pound coin, but this gets returned at the end).

The online
timetable (page 12) clearly indicates what's on when: sessions include Lane Swim, General Swim, Family Swim and Swim School. Choose the one that best suits you and away you go! It's less than £5.00 for an adult and less than £3.00 for a junior or concession.

Lane Swim session
There is a sauna and steam room adjoining the pool, which are perfect for winding down after a session. The facility also has a large gym and an exercise studio, where fitness classes are held throughout the week. There is a creche too, so you can safely leave your children while you work out. For more information on what's offered and when visit the
website.
There is a car park at the front of New Chiswick Pool, so driving is a good option. If not be prepared to walk a little from the nearest station (about 10 minutes), which is the over land at Chiswick, or the E3 bus stops directly outside the centre as well.
