Visit an English country garden

How many kinds of sweet flowers grow in an English country garden?"

The song lyrics pose the question and you can find the answer on 15-16 June, National Gardens Festival Weekend, when glorious gardens of all shapes and sizes will open their gates to visitors.

Choose between countryside or urban locations, wild flowers or formal borders, lush meadows or shady, tree-lined walks.

Some gardens will have art and sculpture exhibitions, while others set the mood with live music - and most will be serving the traditional treat of afternoon tea and cakes.

The National Gardens Festival Weekend aims to raise 500,000 for charities including Macmillan Cancer Support, Marie Curie Cancer Care, Carers Trust and Help the Hospices.

Entry fees range from 3.50 to 5 (approx) depending on which garden you visit. Check the National Garden Scheme website to search for an event in your area.
