One of the hottest accessories you can sport this season is uber cool nails. Nail art is a beauty trend that seems to be growing from strength to strength.
Keeping this in mind, UK will see its first nail art festival this July. The free, two-day
Nail Art Festival 2013 is taking place on July 6 and 7 at the IIford Exchange Shopping Centre, Essex. So get ready for a weekend of colour, design, bling and texture.
The festival will bring leading nail art specialists; the backstage heroes at fashion show to the centre stage. They will show you how to preen, polish, file, paint and put the "extra" into your ordinary nails. Festival goers will get top tips on how to get red carpet worthy nails, with work by Marian Newman, the nail stylist behind Lady Gaga, Kate Moss, Nicole Kidman, Sienna Miller, Gwyneth Paltrow, Naomi Campbell and P Diddy on display at the event.
There is also a 'Finishing School' that will showcase experts giving live demonstrations on how to create impressive nail designs at home, as well as how to maintain nail art, enabling visitors to get nail art savvy. Visitors will be encouraged to experiment with colours, shade, textures, embellishments and ornaments whilst exploring intricate designs. They will also get to use the ideas and inspiration from the experts to have their nails transformed, all with the very latest products available.
There is also a 'Nail Art Marketplace' comprising brightly coloured stalls buzzing with nail technicians, artists and graphic designers including leading nail artists like Nail Girls, Sam Biddle, Nails by Mets, Catherine Greenslade and the Ilford Exchange's very own Defined Beauty, all offering their hints, tips, inspiration and even free treatments.
"Nails provide the perfect canvas for creativity and artistic expression, which is why nail art has become the must have fashion accessory. It can complete a look, but also make a stand alone statement not only on runways but in workplaces, universities, at parties, on holidays and at festivals," says Sam Biddle.
But it won't be only about nails. The festival will also feature Guinness World Record holder Pavan, the fastest Henna artist in her trade. She will be offering free workshops and Henna designs for visitors. Her high-profile clients include Selfridges, Harrods, Sky TV and the BBC. She is famous for incorporating details like glitter, diamanté and even coloured body paint into her fusion of bespoke designs.
So don't forget to head to
Ilford Exchange for a weekend of style, celebration and art on your fingertips.
