You've probably seen the words Nail Bar in my heading and either thought: 'that's just for girls?!' or 'How boring?' However, I am about to prove you very wrong indeed. Not only does MW Nail Bar offer treatments tailored to both men and women- you will be pampered in the unique setting of a genuine retro and recreated flight deck.
MW Nail Bar's are decked out with aeroplane interiors that are the real deal offering visitors a taste of seventies style glamour. Entirely authentic, fun and brightly lit with restored and reupholstered plane seats you are set to have a posh and pleasurable pampering. Nothing is passed by when recreating the theme- everything is precisely attended to in order to achieve a realistic in flight experience.
Originally you would have found this place tucked down a side street just off of Chancery Lane but now there is a new recently opened store in Spitalfields' Market matching the same retro description. The Spitalfields store is now the flagship store.
Handbags and coats are stored securely in the overhead lockers [of course!], small cans of Gin and Tonic are served from hostess trolleys and you fill out which treatment you want to receive on your accurately designed boarding pass. The beauticians have an air hostess style to their uniforms looking meticulously chic and sophisticated a la the old school styled trolly dolly!
The novelty of the surroundings does not take away from the service. It's pretty top notch. Taking inspiration from American nail salons this places offer luxurious treatments with a travel themed twist. You can get their infamous, "Two weeks in Tahiti manicure" which is guaranteed to last a full two weeks for £39. Or the "Monte Carlo Minx" Pedicure coming in at £34 and apparently popular with the celebs. Treatments for men include no nonsense pedicure "Ground Control" £39 or a quick nail trim for £12. Luxury brands such as: OPI nails; Essie and Shellac are used in these treatments.
The beauticians promise a swift but throughout treatment and with 12 work stations and 21 technicians you're bound to not get left in the departure lounge for too long.
MW Nails also offers bargain rates if you attend as a group and some cheaper options like French Manicure for £5. See the website for a full price list.
They offer the venue for hire for corporate events, there is a reward card for frequent 'flyers' and you can pre book a treatment via their website- what's not to love?
The Chancery Lane branch is open from 10am until 6pm and 7:30pm on Fridays.
Definately worth a visit, a nail bar with a fun and retro twist.
I couldn't help but think of this music video in there....
